Dr. Duncan

Here is Duncan's graduation from early May (that's why my belly is so small). It is good to have smart people in the family, so Bryce and I can just be the charm and the wit (guess which of us is which).

I'm that girl...

...meaning, I am now that girl who talks about my pregnancy in weeks instead of months as if everyone knows what that means and I am that girl who thinks EVERYONE wants to see my ultrasound pics.  Well, I couldn't get this one to load in the last post, and I love the way eichelbaby has his/her little hands clasped together (bottom right corner), like he is a little anxious about something.
And yes, the lumpy look of the face freaks me out, too- but that's just how these 3-D ones look sometimes, so don't worry.

While I am posting again, I will tell you about the first time I felt the little bean in there: I was reading on a Tuesday morning ... I think it was Luke 8.  Anyway, this man, Jarius's daughter had just died and he came to ask Jesus to heal her.  Jesus went to his house, took the little girl's hand and said "Child, get up!" and I felt squirming little elbows in my belly!  Isn't that crazy?  Jesus and Eichelbaby are already friends.

Back in Business

Yes, it has been almost a full year since I last posted.  Yes, things have happened since I last posted- even some photogenic things.  But let's not focus on the past, shall we?  I am using this blog today to post about the most blogged subject (besides politics or britney spears) on the world wide web... our baby. Technically, our baby is still a fetus, but this cutie is ready for a debut!

We had our 20 week (which means 5 month) ultrasound yesterday, and let me tell you- there is indeed a human inside me.  I have proof.

It was a very squirmy baby for the camera.  For some reason, it really amazed me to see so much detail- the spine, the ribs, the four chambers of the heart.  One detail we did NOT see is the gender.  We are hoping for a delivery room surprise (sorry, Chara!)  So, only one person knows- Nancy, our ultrasound tech.  Keep a lid on it, Nancy!

3-D ultrasounds can be a bit off-putting in that they make your baby look so... lumpy.  This one is fun, though because we can't decide if the wee one in a boxing match or trying to get a trucker to honk on the interstate.  Can't see it? The right arm is coming down the middle with a fist on top and the left fist is up next to it.  To the right of the top fist you can see the nostrils of the nose and the closed eye.

I have some video, too... I will see if I can post that as well...

Just so you know, the Eichelbaby is now an Eichelbanana.  There is a website (www.babycenter.com) that tells you what vegetable your baby is the size of each week.  I think the banana is a bit of a let-down since 1 week ago it was an heirloom tomato- way cooler, and bigger, right? I guess they go by length now instead of heft.

In any case, get ready world for the world's first Eicheltomato, due to ripen by the end of September!
